Mrs. Martha Serene Stockdal, 83, of St. Johns Lutheran Home, died Monday at the home. She was born Sept. 30, 1885, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Knute Larson. She attended schools in Eagle Grove and attended St. Olaf Academy in Northfield, Minn. She attended college in Eagle Grove. She married Thomas S. Stockdal June 24, 1915. He died in 1957. They moved to Makote, N. D. and lived there for seven years, moving to Billings in 1923. She was one of the first to enter St. Johns Home in 1963. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Elliot M. Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Orland Howard of Eugene, Ore.; and Mrs. Martin Cogburn of Lafayette, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Thorson, of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren and a greatgrandchild. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the American Lutheran Church with burial of Sunset Memorial Gardens.
