AGED CLARION MERCHANT DIES

Services for J. Fairbanks to Be Held Monday at 1:30 at Church.

CLARION, Dec. 27— J. Fairbanks, for many years In the lumber and coal business here, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. A. Newbecker of Waterloo, Friday night about 12 o'clock. The body was brought back to Clarion Saturday morning. Funeral services will be held at the Congregational church at Clarion Monday at 1:30 with the Rev. H. O. Spellman in charge. Burial will be made in the family lot here. Mr. Fairbanks was born in New York and was nearly 82 years of age. He came west as a young man and settled at Clarion in the business he continued in until a short while ago, when he retired. Mr. Fairbanks died of a complication of diseases. He had been in ill health for about a year and a half. He had retired from business and spent most of his time with his family. His wife and four children survive him. Mrs. C. A. Newbecker, Waterloo; Mrs. Joe Anderson, Canton, S. Dak.; Mrs. Harry McMurray, Roanoke, Va., and Mack Fairbanks, Chicago, are the children who survive him. One child, Mrs. Maude Newbecker, died in 1920.
