A large number of friends and relatives gathered at the Kubitschek and Kastler Funeral home Friday, for the funeral of Mrs. A. B. Young who died November 10, 1937. The funeral services were conducted by Dr. W.H. Muhleman of Algona, assisted by J.R. Tumbleson, local pastor of the M.E. Church. The pallbearers were J.C. Dinnie, A. Badleyu, M.K. Riebhoff, Mike Orr, Harry Bissell and John McDonald. Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery of Eagle Grove.
Laura Evelyn Rose, daughter of John and Christina Rose, was born in Whalen, Minn., September 6, 1870. A few years later she moved with her parents to Postville, Iowa, where she resided for a number of years. In 1888 she was united in marriage to Henry Struck of Aberdeen, S. Dak., where they continued to reside until the death of Mr. Struck. Two children were born to this union, William, who lives in California, and Clifford, who preceded his mother in death. Mrs. Struck with her sons later moved to Eagle Grove where on August 5, 1909, she united in marriage with A. B. Young and continued to live here until her death, Nov., 10, 1937. Mrs. Young cared little for social affairs. After her health failed her interest lay in beautifying her home which was the center of her life. Surviving besides the husband and son, William, of Twenty-nine Palms, Calif., are her five sisters, Mrs. Josephine Runge, Blue Earth, Minn., Mrs. Della Phalefar, Sioux Falls, S. Dak., Mrs. Florence Zentner, New Richland, Minn., Mrs. Edna Johnson, Alden, Iowa; four brothers, William of Minneapolis, Minn., Albert, Walnut Grove, Minn., Thomas, Sioux Falls, S. Dak., Lester, Eagle Grove, John of California, three grandchildren, Ruby Struck of Fairmont, Minn., and Eugene and Clifford Struck of Minneapolis. Relatives and friends from out-of-town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Will Walker, Algona; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stall, Wesley; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Johnnson, Algona; Mr. and Mrs. Art Nunnemaker, Williams; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zentner, New Richland, Minn; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Johnson, Alden; Mrs. W.D. Brooks and Ruby Struck, Fairmont, Minn; Mr. and Mrs. Homer Johnson,s Alden; Mrs. W. B. Young and daughter, Jane of Emmetsburg; Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Young of Freeport, Ill; and Mr. and Mrs. H.K. Young of Kamrar, Iowa.
