Stella Emilie Carlson, 88, formerly of Duluth, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, in Bellingham, Wash. Mrs. Carlson was born in Wellsburg, N.D., on April 29, 1908, daughter of Hans and Anna Johanneson Vorland. She was married to Arthur Carlson in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on June 13, 1931. They moved to Duluth, where they lived for 33 years, and then to Sumas, Wash., in 1975. Mrs. Carlson was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrence, Wash., and active in the Sumas Senior Center.

Mr. Carlson passed away in 1990. Stella is survived by her daughter, Harriet Love and husband, Wally, of Lynden, Wash.; sons Roger Carlson and wife, Lavida of Blaine, Wash., and Al Carlson and wife Geri of Sumas; sisters Ellan Jantzen of Valley City, N.D., and Ruby Skinner of San Francisco, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Nov. 7, 1996, in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrence, Washington. Burial was in Sumas Cemetery. Services were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden, Wash.
