Clive, Iowa -- AnnaBelle Ella Smith, 82, died Monday, February 6, 2006 at Mercy Hospice at Johnston of respiratory failure. Visitation will be Friday, February 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Care. Eucharist Services will be held Saturday, February 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 1020 24th Street, in West Des Moines, with interment following at Resthaven Cemetery.

Ann was born on the family farm in Galt, IA on September 18, 1923, to Clifford and Laura (Perkins) Nelson. She was a member of the 1940 graduating class of Clarion High School, and went on to Thompson's Rudemar School of Beauty in Des Moines, where she graduated in 1942. Ann married Frances Robert (Bob) Smith on October 22, 1943 in Yuma, AZ, and they had three children: Judy, Dennis and Jody. In 1995, Ann retired from the West Des Moines School District, where she had worked in food service for 27 years. Throughout her life, Ann enjoyed many activities including: hunting, fishing, traveling, dancing, tending to her flowers, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; her son, Dennis; and her brother, Floyd Nelson. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Danforth of Yorba Linda, CA and Jody Smith (Brian Johnson) of West Des Moines, IA; her grandchildren, Scott and Christa Delaney of Rocklin, CA, and Ryan and Jennifer Delaney of Burbank, CA; her three great-granddaughters, Sutton, Ava and Lauren Delaney; and her sister, Alice Moss of Clarion, IA. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church.
