Aged Belmonder Buried Thursday

Funeral services for Aielt Riekens, 81, were held on Thursday afternoon at the Reformed Immanuel church east of town. Rev. O. G. Poppen, pastor of the church, officiated, assisted by Rev. J. Heber Miller of the Methodist church. Burial was in the Reformed church cemetery. Boone Funeral service was in charge. Mr. Riekens passed away on Monday evening at Steele Memorial hospital after a two weeks illness. Born in Germany, he came to Iowa when 21 years of age, where he has since made his home. Mr. and Mrs. Riekens retired from farming in 1938 and moved to Belmond, and the same year celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mrs. Riekens preceded him in death in 1939. Mr. and Mrs. Riekens were the parents of eight children, all of whom are living. Mr. Riekens has made his home the past years with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. Leebrick.
