Hold Rites for Mrs. John Burt

Hattie Rosetta Kinson was born in Winnebago county near New Milford. Ill., Oct. 24, 1872. She was the sixth child in a family of eight, born to Daniel and Anna Kinson. It was here that she grew to womanhood and received her early education. She became a member of the New Milford Methodist church at an early age. While vacationing with her sister. Mrs. Rena Thompson in Iowa at the farm now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Jay Knuths, she met her future husband John Burt. They were married at her parents' home,
near New Milford, Ill., March 16, 1897. To this union six children were born: Irvin LeRoy and Anna Rose, who are deceased; Mrs. Nina Knuths, James L. Burt and Louis L. Burt of Rowan, and Mrs. June White of Galt. They made their home on a farm near Rowan until 1926. The winter of 1927, they spent in California. The next two years they spent with their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ora White. In 1930 they made their home in Clarion, until the passing of her husband in 1931. Soon after his death Mrs. Burt moved to Rowan where she made her home until ill health made it necessary for her to live with her children. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ora White Friday evening. Besides her two daughters and two sons, she is survived by one brother, two sons-in-law and two daughters-in-law, Fred Kinson of Cherry Valley. Ill., nine grandchildren. 12 great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p. m. in the Rowan Congregational church with Rev Harold A. Sanders officiating. Bearers were all grandsons of the deceased: LeRoy Knuths. Jack Burt, Don Burt, from this vicinity, Fred Eichmann Jr. of Mason City, Pvt. Jimmie Burt, Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and Dwight Willey of Dows. Carl Pesch was the soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Howard Box. Interment was in the Clarion cemetery.
