Elias Olson was born of parents Ole and Britha Knutsen, March 25, 1881 at Aakre, Sondhorland, Norway. He was baptized and confirmed at Aakre Lutheran church. In 1901 he came to America and has since been a resident of Wright county. February 22, 1910 he was united in marriage to Bertha Wicks. They lived in Norway township since. They have lived on the farm which he operated since 1918. He passed away Sunday, 2:40 a. m., July 19, 1953. Mr. Olson was a devoted husband and a prudent and loving father. The spiritual and temporal welfare of his family was his chief concern. There was a family altar in his home. He was respected and esteemed in he community in which he lived. He was an honest and upright Christian, a good neighbor and a faithful friend. The community has lost a very fine friend. For several years he was a member of the Board of Deacons of St. John Lutheran church. In 1938 he and his family became members of Holmes Evangelical Lutheran church of which he was a member at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by one son Melvin and a daughter Marjorie. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Orville of Zering, and Ernest of Roland, three daughters, Bernice, Mrs. Joris Severtson of McCallsburg, Eleanor, Mrs. Ben Eye, and Genevieve, both of Minneapolis, Minn., eight grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held from the Olson home at 1:00 p. m. and from Holmes Evangelical Lutheran church at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 1953. Pastor B. F. Molstre officiated. Olena Anfinson and Olga Ulstad sang at the funeral services. The following were casket bearers: John Howland, Ole Olson, Pete Enge, Jacob Berg, John Engh, and Erling Maage. Interment was made at Norway township cemetery.
