CLARION - Robert L. Davison, 85, longtime Clarion banker, died Saturday (Sept. 4, 1999) at Mercy Health Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Church Of Christ Congregational, Clarion, with the Rev. Curt Miner officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation is on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Willim funeral Home, Clarion, and will continue one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
Robert Lynn Davison was born Aug. 17, 1914, at Hampton, the son of Clyde and Margaret Van Nest Davison. As a child the family moved to Sheffield where he graduated from high school in 1932. He then moved to Mason City and began his banking career. On July 28, 1937, he and Jane D. Williams were married at the Congregational Church in Mason City. In 1939 he came to Clarion with First National Bank and retired as president on Dec. 31, 1983. He served in the Navy during World War II. Bob was a member of United Church of Christ Congregational, Cyrene Lodge No. 325, Clarion Masonic Lodge, ElKahir Shrine Club, Clarion Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, Clarion American Legion and Clarmond Country Club. In past years he had been the Clarion School Board treasurer and active in many community organizations. He will be long remembered for his many generous contributions to Clarion.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; two daughters, Diana Weddell and her husband, Jim, and Sue Hardinger and her husband, Jim, both of Boone; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Georgette Farrer of Mason City. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, two brothers and daughter Lynne Oberg in 1994.
