Walter E. Johnson, 89, of Williams, died Tuesday (Feb. 25, 1997) at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Vernon Lutheran Church, rural Dows, with the Rev. Glen Kappelmann officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Elledge Funeral Home, Dows.

Walter E. Johnson was born Dec. 6, 1907, on a farm in Vernon Township, Wright County. Survivors include two sons, Robert Johnson, Mason City, and Raymond Johnson, Williams; four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and two brothers, Pete Johnson of Dows, and Mike Johnson of Jewell. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and twin sisters in infancy.
