CLARION — Joel M. Janson, 81, died Sunday (Aug. 30, 1998) at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gary Boen officiating. Burial will be in the Norway Township Cemetery, north of Clarion. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Willim Funeral Home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Joel M. Janson was born on Aug. 22, 1917, in Norway Township, Wright County. Survivors include his wife, Bernice of Clarion; sons, David of Colo, and James of West Des Moines; brothers, Dr. Harley Janson of Clear Lake, Dr. Eldon Janson of Gravity, and Edgar Janson of Belmond; and sisters, Marjorie Holtzbauer of San Diego, Calif., Evelyn Leffingwell of Alexandria, Va., and Anna Elaine Kane of Westgate. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers.
