Goldie Van Sickle, 81, of Fort Dodge, died Monday (July 28, 1997) at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Swaledale, with the Rev. Bruce Wittern officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the Grarup Funeral Home, Thornton.

Goldie Van Sickle was born on Dec. 15, 1915, on a farm near Woolstock, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Carpenter. She graduated from the Webster City High School in 1935. She worked in Webster City after graduation. In 1941, she married Kenneth Van Sickle in Bethany, Mo. They then moved to a farm near Swaledale. In 1987, they moved to a home in Thornton. In 1995, they moved to Fort Dodge.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, of Fort Dodge; one daughter, Carolyn Godfrey and her husband, Michael, of Fort Dodge; one granddaughter, Becky, of Fort Dodge; two great-grandsons, Bradley and Travis, both of Fort Dodge; and two sisters, Lillian Totten and Doris Trvedt, both of Fort Dodge.
