Reva Faye Evans, age 95, of Centerville, Iowa, died Friday, October 15, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center's Long Term Care Unit in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Charles Herbert and Laura Luetta (Williams) Carter on January 24, 1909 in Versailles, Indiana. The family moved to Iowa and Reva started school in Munterville, Iowa. Later they moved to Lovilia, Iowa where Reva graduated from Lovilia Community Schools in 1926. On July 4, 1928, Reva was united in marriage to Guy Lewis Evans in Albia, Iowa. During the more than fifty years they were married, they lived in Albia, Council Bluffs, and Waterloo before moving to Centerville, Iowa in 1944. She worked at Woolworth's Store in Centerville and also as an office assistant for Dr. Anthony Owca. She was a member and Past President of the Business and Professional Women and was named Woman of the Year in 1964. For nearly 60 years she was a active member of Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville and was an officer in the Christian Women's Fellowship.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Guy Evans; son, Kenneth Evans; brothers, Gayle and Mark Carter; and sisters, Leona Howe and Dorothy Carter. She is survived by: her daughters, Mona and her husband, William Baretich of Eagle Grove, Iowa and Ruth and her husband, Wayne Adair of Johnston, Iowa; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Russell Carter of Des Moines, Iowa and Herschel Carter of North Bend, Washington.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 18, 2004 at 11 AM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Jeremy Quigley officiating. Burial of her ashes will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday from 10 am until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials can be made in her name to Drake Avenue Christian Church or the Long Term Care Unit at Mercy Medical Center and can be left at or mailed to the Schmidt Family Funeral Home at 501 North 18th Street in Centerville, Iowa 52544.
