Ruth L. Hammersland, 91, of Fort Dodge, died June 29, 2007 at her home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2007 at First Covenant Church with the Rev. Robert Sabin officiating. Interment will be held in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Ruth Linea Anderson, the daughter of August and Amanda (Johanson) Anderson, was born on January 29, 1916 in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1934. On February 14, 1948, Ruth was united in marriage to Knute Hammersland at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. After being married the couple moved to rural Vincent and was engaged in farming until moving to Fort Dodge in 1969. Ruth was employed at Royal 400 and later as an office manager for Glen Construction for 40 years. Ruth was a lifetime member of First Covenant Church. She was involved in Covenant Women and Bible Study group. She was also a member of American Swedish Institute. Ruth was very devoted to her family and friends.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Kathie (Ernie) Lam of St. Louis, MO and son Danny Hammersland of Fort Dodge; 6 grandchildren, Amanda, Kristen, Darren and Derek Lam, Matthew and David Hammersland;4 great-grandchildren and her sister Elizabeth Voga of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her husband Knute Hammersland, her brothers Carl and Walt, and her parents August and Amanda Anderson. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
