November 24, 1916 - June 1, 2007

JANESVILLE, WI — H. Roberta Richards, 90, a longtime Janesville resident, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday June 1, 2007, at Cedar Crest Health Care Center. She was born on Nov. 24, 1916, in Eagle Grove, IA, daughter of the late Robert and Genevieve (Mayor) Fightmaster. Roberta graduated from Paw Paw High School in Illinois and later married Jason E. Richards in 1936. Roberta was a very active member of Orchard View Alliance Church, were she sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School for many years. Roberta lived her life as her Lord had taught her, teaching the Word of Jesus Christ as a Christian woman. Roberta was also a member of the Cain & Abel Group and a member of the WP&L Retiree Club. Roberta worked for 33 1/2 years at Wisconsin Power and Light Co. in the accounting department retiring in 1983. Roberta was also a very avid baseball fan, who always was cheering for the Chicago Cubs. She is survived by 2 sons, Michael (Suzanne) Richards of Roscoe, IL, and Paul (Letha) Richards of Edgerton, WI; dearest niece whom Roberta raised, Marlene (Dean) Duman of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren: Cynthia (Charlie) Clegg, Aaron (Debra) Richards, Shannon (Brent) DeRemer, Geoffrey Richards, Jennifer Keller and Michelle (Jarrett) Halfacre; great-grandchildren: Kristin, Kayla, Courtney, Elin, Gunnar, Kaley, Madalyn, and Evan; nephews: Robert, Ronald and Edward Pifkin, and Doug, Greg, and Steve Richards; and several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kristin Richards; great-niece, Jessica Duman; 3 brothers: Carl, Vernon, and Robert Fightmaster; and 2 sisters, Lucille Pifkin and Carol Richards. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2007, at ORCHARD VIEW ALLIANCE CHURCH, 2707 Bond Place, Janesville, with Rev. Jeff Keen and Rev. Jerry Amstutz officiating. Burial will follow at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made in Roberta's name to the Christian Missionary Alliance, c/o Orchard View Alliance Church . Assisting with arrangements is the WHITCOMB-LYNCH-ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, JANESVILLE.
