WEBSTER CITY — Ila Marie Luhmann, 69, of Webster City, Iowa, died Monday morning, June 25, 2007, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge following a short illness. Ila’s body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2007, at the Vernon Lutheran Church near Dows. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial of ashes will be at the Vernon Lutheran Cemetery, rural Dows, Iowa. Carson Funeral Home of Dayton is in charge of the arrangements.
Ila Marie Ely was born on August 3, 1937, in Woodward, Iowa, the daughter of John G. and Ila Martella (Tingwald) Ely. She attended Blairsburg schools. Ila was united in marriage to Larry Luhmann on Dec. 19, 1956, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple lived in Webster City and in 1959 moved to Fort Dodge where Ila worked at Murphy’s Vending Service for nine years and later became employed by the Salvation Army. Ila and Larry divorced in 1980. In 1995 Ila returned to Webster City. She was employed by the Briggs Woods Conservation Service for one year. Ila’s hobbies included sewing and making quilts. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly Luhmann of Webster City, Iowa; five sons, Terry Luhmann of Webster City, Iowa, Dale and his wife Donna Luhmann of Duncombe, Iowa, Rodney Luhmann of Owen, Wis., Dennis Luhmann of Webster City, Iowa, and Neal and his wife Tangela Luhmann of Clarion, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard and his wife Lynn Ely of Williams, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Belinda Ely of Webster City, Iowa and Karen Malmberg of St. Paul, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Eugene Ely and Randy Gene Ely; and two grandsons, Robert Jay Luhmann and Christopher Luhmann. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
