Marie Bless, 94, formerly of Ventura, Iowa, died Monday, Dec. 12, 1994, at the Rotary Ann Retirement Home in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m., at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess, of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation begins Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials in her name.

Marie Bless was born Nov. 22, 1900, on a farm in Corwith Township, located in Humboldt County, the daughter of George Olson and Ameria (nee) Jacobson Olson. She attended school in Humboldt, Iowa. On Nov. 24, 1921, she married Laurence L. Bless. The couple lived in Ventura and she continued to make her home there until August 1992, when she moved to the Rotary Ann Retirement Home in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was honored to be the grand marshal of Venturas Septemberfest parade in 1990.

She is survived by a brother, Leonard Olson, Eagle Grove; a sister, Ethel Jaqua, Humboldt, Iowa; three grandchildren, Alan Bless, Columbus, Ohio, Linda Bless, Austin, Texas, and Penny Quinn, Pennsylvania; two great-grandchildren, Beth and Michael Bless, Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Marilyn Bless; and two sons, Larry Bless and Tom Bless.
