EAGLE GROVE — Estle Laverne Croxell was born March 5, 1918, at Moville, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth. On July 3, 1940, Estle was united in marriage to Arlene Wischmeyer at Freemont, NE. They began farming near Dickens, Iowa, and moved to a farm south of Eagle Grove in 1958 where they farmed 37 years before retiring in 1978. Most of the winter months have been spent at their home in Edinburg, TX, and the summer months at Eagle Grove, first on the farm and more recently at their home in Eagle Grove, where they moved in 2001. Estle was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove.

Estle passed away Friday, June 8, 2007, at USA Healthcare in Clarion, at the age of 89 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva (Claude) Croxell; three sisters, Lucille Igou, Fern Hammitt and Pauline Knight; and one brother, Russell Croxell. Survivors include his wife Arlene Croxell of Eagle Grove; daughter, Jeannette Lockman and husband Ron of Rapid River, MI; son, Dennis Croxell and wife Corine of Mooresville, N.C.; 3 grandsons: Martin Helgeson of Green Bay, WI, Philip Helgeson of Ely, NY and Dr. Melvin Helgeson and wife Gretchen of Bowie MD; 5 great-granddaughters, Isabella, Emma, Ellie, Tessa and Ava, all of Bowie, MD; brother, Ivan Croxell, Jr. of Alabama; two sisters, Geneva Leslie of Urbana, MO and Opal Mae Stummel of Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Rev. Mary K. Green officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time the funeral home. Burial will be in Troy Township Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
