Services Held for Hazel A. Larson

Services for Hazel A. Larson were held recently at the Jordon Mortuary Chapel in Austin, Minn. Friday, March 15, 1968 at 7:30 o'clock with Rev. Arthur L. Swenson officiating. Services were also held Saturday, March 16, 1968 at 3:30 p. m. at the Sandvig Funeral Home at Eagle Grove with Rev. Marvin L. Dooley officiating. Mrs. Theodore Coltvet, soloist, was accompanied by Mrs. Charles Gangestad. Pallbearers were Howard C. Helgevold Sr., Howard Hoadley, Robert Hoadley, John Hoadley, Howard C. Helgevold Jr. and Raymond Thompson. Interment was at the Holmes Lutheran church cemetery. Sandvig Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Alma Larson was born at Clarion, Iowa, of parents, John and Sophia Larson, and passed away March 13, 1968 at St. Mary's Hospital at Rochester, Minn. As an infant she was brought to the font of baptism, and at the age of fourteen was confirmed at Holmes Lutheran church near Eagle Grove. She received her early education in the public schools of Lake township in Wright County, Iowa, and was a graduate of Clarion High School. In the fall of 1928 she entered nurses' training and graduated from St. Olaf Nursing School at Austin, Minnesota, in the spring of 1931. After practicing nursing for several years she acquired post-graduate training at Chicago, 111. and became a surgical supervisor, a position she held until her death. For the past twelve years she has held that position at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Minn. She was a member of the American Nurses' Association, the Minnesota Nurses' Association, and the Sixth District Nurse's Association.

She is survived by three sisters. Miss Lillian Larson of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Mrs. Howard Helgevold of Clarion, and Mrs. Howard Hoadley of Elmhurst, 111., two brothers, William Larson of Des Moines and Newman Larson of Eagle Grove, nieces and nephews. Hazel will be greatly missed by her coworkers, friends and relatives. Few people have spent a life time of such devotion to helping others, above and beyond the call of duty.
