DOWS—Judith Marie Thomas, 57, of Spread Eagle, Wis., formerly of Racine, Wis., went home to the Lord on Sept. 28, 2005. Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 3, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Dows. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at the church. The Rev. William Straka will officiate. Burial will be in Otis Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and memorials, donations may be made to the Dickinson County Cancer Unit, 1401 S. Carpenter Ave., Iron Mountain, MI 49801. The Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron Mountain, Mich., is serving the family.

Judy was born Jan. 23, 1948, in Iowa Falls, the daughter of Harley and Alma (Anderson) Gardelan. [Gardalen] Judy graduated from Alden High School, Alden, and Dana College in Blair, Neb. On Aug. 15, 1981, Judy married Robert Thomas in Racine. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Iron Mountain, Mich., where she truly enjoyed being a choir member. Judy was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She loved winters, traveling and her flower garden.

Besides her husband, Bob, Judy is survived by a son, Christopher, of Cedarburg, Wis.; her father, Harley Gardalen, of Popejoy; two sisters, Victoria (Vicky) Wiechmann, of Flanagan, Ill., and Karen (Bill) Knight, of Iowa City; two stepchildren, Mark Thomas, of Racine, Wis., and Angela Thomas, of Union Grove, Wis.; a step granddaughter, Taylor Thomas, of Union Grove; her mother-in-law, Mary Thomas, of Racine; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Gardalen.
