June 5, 1900 – September 13, 2000

Inez Rosella McCormick was born on June 5, 1900, in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of William and Anna (Soales) Shaver. While still a young girl, she moved with her family to the area of Goodell, Iowa. The family later moved to South Dakota, and then to the area of Garner, Iowa. She attended school in Garner. She married Michael Leroy McCormick on July 4, 1918, in Clear Lake, Iowa. The couple made their home and raised their family in Garner. They lived in Belmond, Iowa, from 1954 to 1961, before returning to Garner. They remained in Garner until their retirement. Mr. McCormick passed away in 1976. Mrs. McCormick lived at Prairie View Apartments before moving to Good Shepherd Care Center, Mason City, Iowa. Mrs. Garner enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, and reading. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, the VFW Auxiliary, and Garner Senior Citizens. She passed away at age 100 at Good Shepherd Care Center, on Wednesday, September 13, 2000.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Garner was predeceased by two sons, Michael L. and Larry R. McCormick; a daughter, Rita Maria McCormick; her parents; three grandsons, Robert and Brian McCormick and Stephen Anderson; two sons-in-law, John Anderson and Pete Kilgore; eight brothers and sisters, Hazel Ihde, Pearl Chilcote, Essie Cook, Isadora Peterson, Mildred Lindsey, and Glen, Leroy, and Anthony Shaver; and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her children, Cleo Anderson of Mason City, Dan (Joyce) McCormick of Garner, Ruth Kilgore of Klemme, Iowa, Reta (Bill) Kerdus of Mason City, and Jean (David) Malley of Clermon, Florida; two daughters-in-law, Myrtle McCormick of Santa Maria, California, and Patricia McCormick of Fertile, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
