Icle Glendina (Leonard) Severson, 78, of Clarion, died Monday (April 7, 1997) at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Belmond, with the Rev. Lowell Halvorson officiating. Burial will be in St. Olaf Cemetery, Belmond. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Icle Glendina (Leonard) Severson was born July 26, 1918, to Arthur Leonard and Erma (Meachem) Leonard on their farm in Grant Township, Wright County. She graduated from Belmond High School and attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City for two years. She taught in several country schools including Plum Grove where she attended grade school. In the Little Brown Church in Nashua, on June 6, 1940, she married Kenneth Severson. They have one son, Sidney, born June 29, 1941. They have farmed for 53 years in Grant and Belmond townships. Kenneth and Icle enjoyed many winters in Arizona during retirement. Icle was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and held office in several women's organizations. She also taught Sunday school for many years. Icle enjoyed genealogy and was a member of the Miles Standish Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 25 years.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth; son, Sid and his wife, Sherry, of Clarion; grandchildren, Troy Severson and his wife, Beth; Traci and her husband, Michael Gorton; Tanya and her husband, Kenny Scribner, Ryan Maasdam, Nick German and John German; great-grandchildren, Allison, Clayton and Knuton Severson, Alaina Gorton and Paige Icle Scribner; sisters, Lova McAlpine and Arlene Allen, both of California, and Cleona Tegland of Belmond. Preceding her in death were her parents, Arthur and Erma Leonard and one brother, Art Jr.
