06/24/1996CLARION -- Lloyd Allen, 69, of 705 Cedar Drive, died Friday night (June 21, 1996) at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., after a lingering battle with cancer. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church with the Father Thomas Currier officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John's Cemetery with military grave side rights by the Clarion American Legion and the V.F.W. Visitation will be at the Willim Funeral Home from 3 to 8 p.m. today and a vigil will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Lloyd A. Allen, the son of Roy and Velma (Jacobs) Allen, was born July 23, 1936 on a farm near Nashua. He grow up in Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School in 1954 then he served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Lloyd was united in marriage to LaVonne C. Springer on June 22, 1955 in New Hampton. They lived in Clear Lake for seven years then moved to Mason City. In 1981 they moved to Clarion. Lloyd worked in the dairy service industry for 33 years, first working for Carnation then later working for Swiss Valley Farms and Anderson Erickson Dairy. He attended Veterans Agriculture Production school for four years and NIACC and Iowa State University Extension Services. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Mason City Teamsters 828. Lloyd enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, golfing, outboard motor rebuilding, woodworking, and cabinet making.
Survivors include his wife, LaVonne; two sons, Steve and his wife Kim and their children Ashley and Amber of O'Fallon, Mo.; and Bill and his wife Polly and their children Russell and Eliz of Bremerton, Wis.; one sister Betty Ponto of Powersville; one brother, Roger of Dane, Wis.
