SHEFFIELD — Hazel Marie Endriss, 85, died Saturday (Sept. 10, 2005) at Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Hampton Cemetery with the Rev. Karl R. Watkins officiating. Inurnment will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Hazel Marie Endriss Memorial Fund.
Hazel Marie Carlsen was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Franklin County, the daughter of Albert R. and Anna S. (Simmonsen) Carlsen. Hazel attended the Hampton Schools. She worked part-time outside the home; the rest of the time she loved being a homemaker. She was united in marriage to George Endriss on May 13, 1939, in Sheffield. In 1954, George and Hazel adopted a daughter, Judi. Hazel worked at the Sahara Supper Club for 14 years retiring in 1986. She then worked at the Sheffield Care Center in Environmental Services. Hazel lived most of her life in the Sheffield and Hampton areas. Hazel loved canasta, dancing, working in the yard and drinking Mountain Dew, and her greatest love was spending time with family and friends.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Judi Steffenson, of Clarion, grandchildren, Andrea Bartel (Chad Sharkey) of Tombstone, Ariz., Scott Endriss (Holly Anderson) of Goldfield, Joshua Tolbert of Clarinda, Justin Steelman of Clarion and Jordan Steelman of Clarion; great-grandchildren, Keiley-Shay Endriss, Orion Endriss, Seth Endriss, Regina Endriss, Lauren Sharkey and Nathan Anderson; and one sister, Karen Crandall, of Eldora. Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Anna Carlsen; husband, George H. Endriss; two brothers, Roy and Albert Carlsen, and son-in-law, John Steffenson.
