BRITT - Janetta Mabel Knoedler Pierce, 82, passed away Thursday (March 18, 1999) at Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at the Ewing Funeral Chapel, Britt. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Ewing Funeral Chapel, Britt, and will continue one hour prior to the services Tuesday.

Janetta, the daughter of John and Cora Willson Knoedler, was born Dec. 28, 1916, in Galt, Iowa. She grew up in the Clarion/Britt area, attending school in Britt and graduating from Britt High School in 1935. After high school she worked at various jobs in Mason City, most notably at Woolworth's. On Aug. 10, 1948, she was united in marriage with John (Jack) C. Pierce in Mason City. The couple managed Travelodge Motels around the Midwest until their retirement in 1983. The couple then did a lot of traveling around the country. They then moved to Harlingen, Texas, where they lived until Jack's death in 1995. Janetta then moved to Britt.

Janetta is survived by two sisters, her twin sister, Janice Schubert, and her husband, Ewald, of Harlingen, Texas, and Dorothy Larson of Britt, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and one sister.
