ca. October 1929Mrs. Trientja Koenen, Nee Blankman was born April 27, 1850 at Boen, Oestfriesland, Germany. In 1891 she came with her parents to America and settled first at Conrad,Iowa. After a year at this place, they moved to Ackley. Here she was married to Aeiko Koenen, Oct. 1, 1883. The same year they came to the vicinity of Chapin, where they lived until 27 years ago, when they moved to the vicinity of Meservey where they have lived ever since. Their marriage was blessed with 12 children, six sons and six daughters, one of whom, Bendine, Mrs. Tony Boelman, preceded her mother in death on Oct. 13, 1925. Her death came suddenly and unexpected on Sunday, Oct. 27, 1929, while stepping into an auto at her home, south east of Meservey. She became suddenly ill and died within a few minutes. The cause of her death was heart failure. Those who mourn her death are her husband; six sons, Harm, John, Jake, Joe, Aeiko and Henry of Meservey; five daughters, Mrs. Henry Dirks, Mrs. William Kaduce, Mrs. Fred Blau, of Meservey, Mrs. Herman Frohling of Belmond, Jennie of Meservey; one sister, Mrs. Henry Koenen of Latimer; thirty-six grandchildren; and many relatives. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Henry Pankuk were held on Wednesday p.m. at Meservey Reformed Church and burial in Meservey Cemetery.
