WOOLSTOCK -- Robert "Buster" Kastler, 86, died Saturday (Aug. 5, 1995) at Clarion Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home, Webster City, with the Rev. Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial will be at the French Cemetery east of Woolstock. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. today until time of services on Tuesday.

Robert Clifford Kastler, son of George Kastler and Mary Kastler (nee) Schoenenberger, was born Nov. 27, 1908, on a farm east of Woolstock. He attended rural schools in that area. On Dec. 4, 1929 he married Gladys Mae Loux at Webster City. The couple farmed east of Woolstock until they retired in 1974. Mrs. Kastler died in March of 1991 and he continued to reside on his farm. He was a member of the Woolstock United Methodist Church, a longtime member and former board member of the Woolstock United Cooperative, a member of the Ban de la Roche and was a member of one of the first organized softball teams in Iowa and later
was an umpire for many years.

He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Kastler and Marilyn Kastler of Mazeppa, Minn., Carol Kastler and Marlene Kastler of Mason City, Larry and Darlene Kastler of Woolstock and Kenneth and Jamie Kastler of Erzenhausen, Germany; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Odette Kastler of Woolstock; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Edward Kastler, Verne Kastler, Clarence Kastler and Donald Kastler.
