Tena Pals, 82, of Meservey, died Friday (Nov. 22, 1996) at the Belmond Community Hospital, Belmond. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Reformed Church, with the Rev. Rodney Meester officiating. Burial will be in the Meservey Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, with the family present from 2 to 6 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy may direct the memorials to the Tena Pals Memorial Fund.

Tena was born on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1914, on a farm in rural Meservey. She was united in marriage to John J. Pals on March 29, 1934, at the Immanuel Reformed parsonage in Belmond. They farmed together in Belmond, Thornton and Goodell areas until 1952 and moved to an acreage south of Meservey. In 1960, they moved into the town of Meservey. She was a member of the First Reformed Church, Meservey.

Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Larry (Jan) Ersland, of Belmond; Mrs. Richard (Sheryl) Meints, of Meservey; sons, Lyle Pals and his wife, Donna, of Belmond, and Wayne Pals and his wife, Connie, of Thornton; nine grandchildren, Mitch Ersland, Mike Ersland, Dave Pals, Dan Pals, Chad Pals, Ranae Vanness, Kim Funke, Sue Theobald and Lisa Pals; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Jake Koenen of Meservey; and two sisters, Mrs. Bert (Grace) Pals and Mrs. Lyda Wiemann, both of Meservey.
