John W. "Jack" Griffith, 71, of Clarion, died Thursday (Nov. 21, 1996) at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Spirit Lake. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Presbyterian Church, Clarion, with the Rev. Stuart Brantley officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, is in charge of arrangements.

John W. Griffith was born July 16, 1925, in Goldfield. Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Whitman of Hot Springs, Ark., Jaynece Tekippe of Fort Atkinson, Iowa, and Carol Chapman of Clarion; one son, Dan Griffith, of Iowa City; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bernadine Wilkenson of Sioux City, Faye Smith of Dows and Althea Douglas of Goldfield; and two brothers, Marley Griffith of Webster City, and Larry Griffith of Grove, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
