Marion E. Sims, 85, of Clarion, died Tuesday (July 22, 1997) at home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ Congregational, with the Rev. Curt Miner officiating. Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Marion Elsie Fisher was born April 14, 1912, at Eagle Grove. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Paul E. Sims; two sons, John of Naperville, Ill., and Scott of Eagle River, Alaska; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Marion Elsie Fisher was born on April 14, 1912, at Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dr. Frank and Elsie Laurence Fisher. She attended the Eagle Grove High School and graduated in 1931. She enrolled in the Community College at Eagle Grove and attained her teaching degree. After college she taught in Woolstock Township and had also been a substitute teacher in the Clarion School System. She married Dr. Paul M. Sims on June 1, 1936, at Eagle Grove. They made their home in Clarion, where her husband practiced as an optometrist from 1935 until 1980. She had worked in the office for her husband early in his career. After retiring, they enjoyed 15 years in Florida, before returning to Clarion. At the time of her death, they resided at The Meadows in Clarion. She was a member of the Eastern Star, had worked for Easter Seals, was a member of the ladies’ groups of the United Church of Christ Congregational, and was a professional antique collector and dealer.

Marion E. Sims died Tuesday, July 22,1997, at home at the age of 85.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Paul M. Sims; sons, Dr. John W. Sims, and wife, Kay, Naperville, Ill., Dr. Scott Sims, and wife, Michele, Eagle River, Alaska; five grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Dr. Scott Fisher; and a sister, Kathryn Armstrong.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 26, 1997, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Church of Christ Congregational, Clarion, with Reverend Curt Miner officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove.

Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of arrangements.
