She was baptized as an infant and confirmed with the class of 1929, both in St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Belmond. She attended Belmond Township #4 country school through the eighth grade as well as Belmond High School. On Aug. 12, 1933, Maxine married Elmer L. Michelson at Eagle Grove. The couple lived in Belmond and Kanawha and operated a shoe business. They had one daughter, Jeanne. During the World War II years, Maxine worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., and Tacoma, Wash. Maxine lived in Minneapolis until stricken with a stroke in January of 1995. She then moved to Cape-side Cove in Siren, Wis. In December, she suffered another stroke.

Maxine will be remembered for her unending generosity, her special love for her family, and her caring about the needs of others rather than for herself. She was a faithful and active member of the Lutheran Church during her lifetime. Her strong faith in her Lord and Saviour gave her the support she needed in life. Maxine donated her body to the University of Minnesota for medical research, remembering the needs of others.
