Fannie Heginger was born October 15th, 1878, on a farm near Cedar Falls, Ia, the second of a family of five children born to parents, John and Fannie Kratchmer. She grew up in a farm home, attended rural school and rural church, later she became a member of the Lutheran Church of Belmond, but transfered to the Klemme Methodist Church where she has held membership for many years. In March 1896 at the age of 18, Fannie Kratchmer and John Heginger were married in Shell Rock, Iowa. They live on a farm in Avery Township for many years, then farmed in Liberty Township for twelve years, after which they moved into the town of Klemme which has been their home for the past 25 years. Mr. and Mrs. Heginger lived together fifty-four years ans were seperated only by the death of the wife Fannie. Four years ago, in 1946, the Hegingers celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. This was held in the Community Hall and was attended by their eight children and their families, the grandchildren numbering 41 and their nine great grandchildren. Fate was kind to Fannie Heginger, and allowed her 72 years in which to enjoy her interesting family. Her influence continues in the lives of 58 living descendants. About a year ago Fannie Heginger became ill, spent some weeks in the hospital and finally left us on Tuesday, October 17, 1950.
She leaves her husband, John Heginger, and eight children: Mollie - Mrs. Lee Price, Mason City; Martha - Mrs. Will Tiggeman, Klemme;Anna - Mrs. John Pannhoff, Garner;Carl Heginger - Klemme; Fannie - Mrs. Jake Blumer, Garner;Doris - Mrs. Edwin Medaus, Klemme;Cecelia - Mrs. Taus Harms, Belmond;Ruth - Mrs. Harold Lassahn, Klemme;forty-one grand children, nine great grandchildren and other more distant relatives and friends.
