Cornelia E. Sutton Tordoff, 86, of Iowa Falls, died of a heart ailment Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Iowa Falls, with burial in St. Mark's Catholic Cemetery. Father Jim Miller will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon-7:30 p.m. at Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, with the family receiving friends from 6-7:30 p.m. followed by a scripture service. Memorials may be directed to her daughter, Mary Ellen Card, 810 College, Iowa Falls.
Cornelia was born April 17, 1914, at Dows, to Elmore and Ellen Walshe Sutton. She attended country school and graduated from Iowa Falls High School School in 1931. She attended Ellsworth College for two years and on Oct. 15, 1935, married Harold Tordoff. They farmed northwest of Iowa Falls. Cornelia was a member of St. Mark's Parish and St. Mark's Sanctuary Society.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen Card and husband, Norman, of Iowa Falls; two grandchildren, Michael Card of Iowa Falls, and Michelle Card of Davenport; two great-grandchildren, Marshall Card of Ames, and Levi Card of Iowa Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; an infant son, Eugene; and three brothers, Harold, Elden and Eugene Sutton.
