Lillian Elsie Blair, 95, of New Providence, Iowa died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Valley View Nursing Home in Eldora. Lillian had donated her body to the University of Iowa College of Medicine, Iowa City, for scientific purposes. Formal services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Pleasant Chapel Cemetery Society, in care of her daughter: Kay Smith, 301 Quince, New Providence, IA 50206.
Lillian was born March 13, 1907, to William and Lucy Blair Spears. She attended schools in Tampico, Ind., Rowan and Waterloo. On Dec. 28, 1934, she married Richard Blair at Galena, Ill. She was a member of the Pleasant Chapel Church, Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church and the Pleasant Chapel Cemetery Society. Lillian was a homemaker and enjoyed working on the acreage, gardening and baby-sitting.
She is survived one daughter Kay Smith and husband W.J. "Bill" of New Providence; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; three brothers, Everett Spears, Roy Spears and an infant; a sister, Edith Fisher; her stepmother, Goldia Spears; a stepbrother, Harry Miller, and a stepsister, Zetta Shumann. Linn's Funeral Home of Iowa Falls was in charge of arrangements.
