Jessie Marie McCullough, 90, of Hampton, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Services were held Tuesday, July 30, at the Morgan Center United Methodist Church, rural Dows, with burial in Maynes Grove Cemetery, rural Bradford. Rev. David Gobeli officiated.
Jessie was born May 13, 1912, at Tipton to Jesse Earl and LaVerna Carney Morton. She graduated from Tipton High School and Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. She taught school in Cedar County and on Aug. 28, 1943, married Sterl A. McCullough at Tipton. They farmed in the Dows area and she was a member of the Morgan Methodist Church and the "V" Club. Jessie enjoyed playing Scrabble and visiting with her friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy McCullough of Hampton; a son, Roger, and wife Ruth of Fort Dodge; two grandsons, Ryan McCullough and wife Becky of Cedar Rapids and Reed McCullough and wife Emily of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and a sister, Pauline Bernet, of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sterl, in 1966 and one brother, Roger Morton. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton was in charge of arrangements.
