DOWS-Caroline (Carrie) Minnie Jacobson, 104, of Dows, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Dows, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dows. Rev. Tony Hershey will officiate.
Caroline was born March 11, 1897, in Dows, to Christian and Minnie Seifert Horstman. She attended country school at Galt and graduated from Dows High School in 1915. On Feb. 11, 1920, she married John Jacobson in Hampton. They farmed in Franklin and Wright counties and in 1954, they moved into Dows. For many years she took in boarders at their home. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Senior Citizens, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Tuesday Card Club.
She is survived by a son, Darwyne, of Dows; a daughter, Marcelene Hitt, of Dows; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1981; four brothers; three sisters; and one grandson. Elledge Funeral Home of Dows, was in charge of arrangements.
