April 16, 1916 - April 12, 2002

Roy Hoefer, 85, of Iowa Falls, died Friday, April 12. 2002, at Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Services were held Tuesday, April 16, at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Iowa Falls with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Williams. Father James Dubert officiated.

Roy was born April 16, 1916, in Morgan Township near Dows, to John and Annie Wilkins Hoefer. He grew up near Williams and farmed in the Dows area until moving to a farm near Nevada. On Jan. 12, 1938, he married Evelyn Fink at Webster City. He retired from farming at age 54 and worked for Hach Chemicals in Ames until 1978. After he retired he enjoyed fishing at Lake Rathburn and spending time with the senior citizens in Nevada. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada, former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Williams, and attended St. Mark's Catholic Church in Iowa Falls.

He is survived by two daughters, Leona Sharar and husband, Larry, of Dows, and Norma Tomlinson and husband, Gary, of Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Miller of Carroll; two brothers, Maurice Hoefer of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Richard Hoefer of Indianapolis, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucille; and a son, Robert. Surls Funeral Home of Iowa Falls, was in charge of arrangements.
