June 3, 1934 - May 12, 2000

Ray Daniel "Dan" Denger, 65, of Dows, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, where he had been a patient for nine weeks. Services were held Monday, May 15 at the United Methodist Church in Dows with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dows. Rev. James Turner officiated.

Dan was born June 3, 1934, in Iowa Falls, to Ray and Elsie Brighton Denger. He graduated from Dows High School in 1951, and on Dec. 28, 1954, he married Mary Ann Rankin in Des Moines. Dan farmed in Wright County most of his adult life and in later years he did crop insurance adjustment and management. He was a member of Cyrene Lodge No. 325; Scottish Rite of Free Masonry; Za Ga-Zig Shrine; Elks Lodge No. 1674 in Iowa Falls; and the Dows Methodist Church. He was an avid Iowa State fan and attended many football and basketball games in Ames.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, of Dows; two daughters, Diane Mason and husband, Larry, and Carol White and husband, David, all of Lake Charles, La.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Franklin, Meridith and Brandson Mason; his mother, Elsie Denger of Dows; and a sister, Sue Denger of Wichita, Kan. He was preceded in death by his father. The Elledge Funeral Home of Dows was in charge of arrangements.
