April 21, 1919-December 30, 2006

IOWA FALLS—Ilene Minnie Hill, 87, of Iowa Falls, died on Saturday, December 30, 2006, at the Scenic Manor in Iowa Falls. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 2, at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls, with burial in the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls.

Ilene Minnie Hill, was born on April 21, 1919 at Corning, the daughter of Ira and Ethel (Garner) Martin. Her family moved to a farm near Rowan. Ilene attended and graduated from the Clarion High School with the class of 1937. Ilene taught country school for two years. She married Arthur Truman Hill on May 21, 1939, at Rowan. Ilene was a homemaker in addition to helping out on the farm.

Survivors include three daughters, Janice Gregory and husband, Dr. Richard of Vermillion, South Dakota, Judy Duckett and husband, Ronald of Randalia and Janet Kaufman and husband, Larry of Ankeny; two sons, Steven Hill and wife, Sandy of Geneva and Stan Hill of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Gardalen of Clear Lake and Evelyn Vulgamott of Ames. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters, Ella Askelsen and Iris Johnson.
