December 1, 1914 - October 5, 2005ALDEN—Goldie Nachazel, 90, of Lenexa, Kan., and formerly of the Alden area, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee, Kan. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Vernon Lutheran Church, rural Dows, with burial in the Alden Cemetery. The Surls Funeral Chapel in Williams was in charge of arrangements.
Goldie Amelia Nachazel was born on Dec. 1, 1914, in Vernon Township, the daughter of Ernest and Anna Marie (Thorman) Heiden. She was baptized and confirmed in the Vernon Lutheran Church. She went to country school in Vernon Township and graduated from the Williams High School in 1932. In October 1943, Goldie married Frank Nachazel and lived north of Alden near Popejoy. She was a member of the Vernon Lutheran Church, rural Dows. Goldie enjoyed life, especially her family and her gardening on the farm. Everyone enjoyed her cooking and her joyous conversations.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Protzmann of Overland Park, Kan.; four grandsons, John Protzmann of Overland Park, Mark Protzmann and Chris Protzmann, both of Lenexa, Kan., and Matt Protzmann of Olathe, Kan.; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Herbert Heiden and wife Vivian of Williams; a sister-in-law, Doris Heiden; 13 nieces and nephews; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Nachazel; a son-in-law, Herbert Protzmann; three sisters, Myrtle Rockow, Mable Schutt and Vernie Schutt; and three brothers, Irvin, Fred and Leo Heiden.
