(1950 - 2007)

Carol Jo Peterson was born in Jefferson, Iowa to Donald and Leola Peterson. She was raised in Thor, Iowa by her Uncle Edward Severson and Aunt Dorothy Severson. She graduated in 1968 from Eagle Grove High School and in 1972 from Immanuel School of Nursing in Omaha. She was a registered nurse for many years with the American Red Cross in Nebraska. Carol married James Martin in 1980 in Thor.

She is survived by husband James E. Martin; sister Joan (Larry) Gillum of St. Paul; Aunt Dorothy Severson of Eagle Grove; daughers, Carrie (Tim) Swift and Amy Martin, both of Omaha; step son Jason (Carrie Ann) of Underwood, Iowa; and grandchildren, Abbie Lynn and Hailey Ann of Underwood; many nieces, nephews and cousins: including Dianne Spangler and Merry (Robert) Conaway of Eagle Grove, and Kathy (Dan) Rice of Mound, Minn. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, and Uncle Edward Severson.

Carol died Friday, April 20 in Omaha after having been diagnosed with cancer for 7 weeks. Her untimely death leaves many family members, friends, co-workers and neighbors suffering in her loss. Services will be held today, April 25 in Omaha at 10:30 a.m. at Dworak-Cutler West Center Chapel at 78th and West Center St. in Omaha.
