Ruth Menke, 100, of Mason City, died on Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 17, with interment in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Ruth was born on October 12, 1901 in Belmond, the daughter of Adolf and Abbie (Harberts) Meinders. She attended school in Belmond and married Lambert Menke in 1924. Ruth is survived by three daughters, Adeline Perry of Arizona, Avis Miller of Wisconsin and Phyllis Wright (Roderick) of Mason City; and a son, Junior "Bud" Menke (Marcia) of Mason City.

MASON CITY - Ruth Menke, 100, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Wednesday (Aug. 14, 2002) at Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 329 E. State St., with the Rev. Paul Finger officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services Saturday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Ruth Menke Memorial Fund.

Ruth was born Oct. 12, 1901, in Belmond, the daughter of Adolf and Abbie (Harberts) Meinders. She attended school in Belmond. Ruth married Lambert Menke on June 25, 1924, in Mason City. She worked for Jacob E. Decker and Sons (Armour) for 25 years, retiring in 1966. Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Ruth is survived by three daughters, Adeline Perry, of Sedona, Ariz., Avis Miller, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Phyllis Wright and her husband, Roderick, of Mason City; son, Junior "Bud" Menke and his wife, Marcia, of Mason City; 11 grandchildren, Bobbi, Thomas, Julie, Sally, Mark, Diane, Jay, Lizabeth, Timothy, Jodie and Gregory; nine great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, two sisters, grandson William and great-grandson Matt Murphy. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is in charge of arrangements.
