Mitchell "Mitch" Garrett Boen, 21, of Clarion, died Saturday, November 3, 2001 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 7, at First Lutheran Church, Clarion. Rev. Curt Miner of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Clarion, officiated at the 2 p.m. service. Burial was at Strombeck Cemetery, Montevideo, Minnesota. Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of arrangements.

Mitchell Garrett Boen was born July 26, 1980, at Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the oldest son of Pastor Gary and Sandra (Walstrom) Boen. Before coming to Clarion the family lived in Pelican Rapids, International Falls, and Clearbrook, Minnesota.
Mitch was currently a student at Iowa Central Community College in Eagle Grove.

He is survived by his parents, Pastor Gary and Sandra Boen of Clarion; two brothers, Ryan and Collin Boen of Clarion; grandparents, Orlean Boen of Burnsville, Minnesota and Joyce Walstrom of Montevideo, Minnesota; aunts and uncles; and five cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joyce Boen and Sterling Walstrom.
