Luella Segar, 95, of Webster City, died Sunday, February 11, 2007 at the Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael Willers officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the church.
Luella Josephine Olson, daughter of John and Mabel Rude Olson, was born February 11, 1912 at Flugstad. She graduated from Eagle Grove high school in 1929. She attended Buena Vista College and taught in rural schools in Humboldt county for three years. On June 5, 1933, she married Cecil Curtiss Segar at the English Lutheran Church at Chicago, IL. The couple resided at Webster City. She assisted her husband in the radio and television repair business. The couple retired in 1982. Mr. Segar died April 22, 1984. Mrs. Segar continued to reside at her home for several years before moving to an apartment. She had resided at Southfield since November 30, 2006.
Mrs. Segar is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Stan Brandenburg of Georgetown, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Bryce and Patricia Segar of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren and spouses, Scott and Gaye Brandenburg of Baton Rouge, LA; Dr. Christine and Dr. John Branch of St. Louis, MO; Samantha Segar of Austin, TX; Christopher and Juleen Segar of Chicago, IL; sister, Maye Wahman of Stratford; Joyce Rolland of Tucson, AZ; Madlyn Olson of Council Bluffs; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and 4 sisters. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Faith Circle and Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary.
