Jean E. Bilyeu, 76, of Algona died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Miss. A funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Algona with Reverend Dr. David Ullom officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery, Algona. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, in charge of arrangements.

Jean Elizabeth Bilyeu was born Sept. 21, 1930 in Eagle Grove, daughter of Harry C. and Metta (Rounds) Snyder. She grew up in Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1948. Jean was united in marriage to Dean Eugene Bilyeu on Oct. 16, 1948 in Algona. Jean worked as a secretary for a short time and her main focus was caring for her family and her home. She loved visiting with her family and friends and enjoyed reading, baking, and crocheting. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Jean E. Bilyeu died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Miss., at the age of 76. She is survived by three children, David and his wife, Linda, of Bend, Ore., Doug and his wife, Mary, of LaCrosse, Wisc., and Traci Ellis and her husband, Keith, of Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren; one brother, Harry Snyder and his wife, Marge, of Granger, one sister, Elaine Elkin and her husband, Donald, of Webster City; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dean on Dec. 17, 2006; and one sister, Shirley Allen.
