Lewis M. Larson Sr., 81, passed away on Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at his home in Thorndale, Pennsylvania surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Josephine Long Brubaker Larson, with whom he shared more than 19 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lou Larson, after 40 years of marriage. Born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, Lewis was the son of the late Lars and Hazel Larson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and piloted a landing craft in the European Theatre. He was employed by Lukens Steel for 40 years as an electrician and maintenance supervisor. He was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, where he had served in numerous church offices. He also served on the board of the Blind Association. Lewis was a past Master of the Goddard Lodge #383 of Coatesville.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two children, a son, Lewis M. Larson Jr. of Coatesville, and a daughter, Kathleen Jenkins of Ohio; three stepchildren, Valerie Gallagher, Janice Brubaker and Timothy Brubaker; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Lila Frakes, Betty Conaway and Nelda Kiley, all of Iowa, Sonia Martini of Langhorne and Lois Sumners of California; and a brother, Richard Larson of Texas. He was preceded in death, in addition to his first wife, by brothers, William, Lars and Earl Larson; and a sister, Aileen Larson Claggett.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Feb. 26, 7 p.m., at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 S. 17th Ave., Coatesville, PA 19320. Memorial donations may be sent in Lewis’ name to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd at the above address; or to the Jennersville Regional Hospital Hospice, 121 Bell Tower Lane, Oxford, PA 19363.
Arrangements are being handled by the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg.
