Bruce Roger Tokheim, 56, of River Falls, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at his home, of lung cancer. The son of James and Donna (Van OsDoll) Tokheim, he was born Dec. 2, 1951, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. He attended grade school in Thor, Iowa; junior and senior high school in Eagle Grove, Iowa; and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1974. On Aug. 25, 1973, he married Debra Schutte. Mr. Tokheim worked for Shakey’s Pizza Parlor and Pizza Inn, Wyeth Laboratories, Ratigan-Rhoden Car Company, and was a Horace Mann Insurance agent in River Falls from 1986-1992. In 1992 he formed the River Falls Insurance Center at 216 N. Main St. as an independent insurance agent. Mr. Tokheim was a member of Midland Insurance Center of the Twin Cities. In 2002, he purchased the Grimm Agency where his sons Tyson and Lance joined him in the business. Mr. Tokheim was a member of the River Falls Utility Commission since 1999, and until recently served as its vice-president. He was a member of English Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls, and most recently a member of Hope Lutheran Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Tokheim hosted soccer teams from Ireland and Slovakia and served as River Falls High School Band Boosters vice presidents and presidents. His family said he attended all 15 years of daughter Abby’s dance competitions and recitals, coached summer baseball and soccer, was a believer in good education, loved to travel, enjoyed golf, was an avid University of Iowa Hawkeye fan, and a member of Steve’s Pizza’s bowling league. They said before his death he expressed a desire to establish a high school scholarship for a graduating senior who is interested in a business career. Memorials will be used to establish that scholarship.

Mr. Tokheim was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents: James and Donna Tokheim; and sister-in-law, Kathy Schutte. He is survived by his wife, Debra Tokheim; children: Ty (Wendy) Tokheim; Abigail Tokheim, and Lance Tokheim, all of River Falls; sister, LuAnn Tokheim; brother, Mike (Shirley) Tokheim of Madison; many nieces and nephews; and several sisters- and brothers-in-law. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at Cashman Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, with Pastor Jean Gfall of Hope Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Cashman Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
