Aleta E. Waterhouse, the daughter of William and Charlotte (Krueger) Green, was born June 10, 1911, at Ledyard, Iowa. She attended school at Ledyard and graduated from Ledyard High School in 1929. Aleta was united in marriage to Aubrey Waterhouse on Sept. 5, 1936, in Estherville. They lived in Ledyard where Aubrey was a carpenter contractor, owning his own business, until his death in 1970. Aleta worked at the Ledyard Schools as a hot lunch cook for 19 years until the school closed. Aleta always enjoyed walking, reading, and being with her family. She was always ready to go on a "road trip" no matter where the car was going. She was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church and the Grace Circle in Ledyard. Aleta belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and served on the Ledyard Library Board. She sold her home in August 1995, and moved to Belmond where she lived in the Reddar-McLaughlin Apartments until February of 2001, when she broke her hip. At that time she moved to the Belmond Health Care Center where she lived until her death on Monday (Jan. 21, 2002).

Aleta leaves to mourn her one daughter, Dianne McLaughlin and her husband, Michael, of Belmond; a daughter-in-law, Julie Waterhouse, of Novato, Calif.; a granddaughter, Lori Anderson and her husband, James, of Rohnert Park, Calif.; a grandson, Doug Waterhouse Jr., of Novato, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Steven, Kevin, and Andrew Anderson, and Sierra and Ric Waterhouse. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Douglas Leon Waterhouse; three brothers, Theodore, Reuben, and Elwood Green; and two sisters, Edna Collins and Esther Green.
