Margaret E. Hunst, 76, passed away Friday (Oct. 4, 1996) at the Fountain West Health Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier church with Father Jack Paisley and Deacon Nick Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Margaret was born Nov. 5, 1919 to John and Alice Dempsey in Belmond. She attended and graduated from Belmond High School. She was united in marriage with Adolph (Duffy) Hunst. The couple made their home on a farm north of Belmond until 1967, when they moved into town. Margaret was a devoted family person, especially loving her great-grandchildren, Alex, Kyle, Marie and Jessica. She has been a resident of the Fountain West Health Center in Des Moines since 1993. Margaret was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, and a member of the St. Francis Rosary Society. She was presently a member of St. Augustin's Catholic Church in Des Moines.

Margaret is survived by her children, Michael Hunst and his wife, Vicki, of Woodbury, Minn.; Kathryn Garton and her husband, Rae, of Des Moines; and Patricia Carr and her husband, Kenneth, of Floyd; eight grandchildren, Steven, Debra, David, Kathleen, Mark, Valerie, David and Chris; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Dempsey of Grand Meadow, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents, hubsband, four brothers and four sisters.
