Paul Richard Nassen, 65, of Denver, Colorado, died on Wednesday, August 10, 2005, at his home. Funeral services were held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Denver. Interment was in the Logan National Cemetery.

Paul was born in Story County on August 19, 1939, the son of Harvey and Stella (Durby) Nassen. He was baptized at the Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond. He grew up on farms near Story City and Belmond, graduating from the BHS in 1957. He attended St. Olaf College, the University of Colorado, and Regis College. He served in the Army from 1963-1965 and was stationed in Fort Devens, Massachusetts and at Frankfurt, Germany. He married Elaine Paulette Bergsgaard in Denver on November 28, 1981. Paul worked at Martin Marietta, Haugland Computer Service, and the State of Colorado Departments of Revenue and Human Services. He retired as a Principal Systems Analyst in 1995. Paul and Elaine enjoyed traveling, including trips to Norway, Ireland, Egypt, France and Hawaii. They had many ski and golf vacations, attended musical performances at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His nieces and nephews especially enjoyed Paul's company. Paul was active at Our Savior's, serving as council president and singing in the choir and a church quartet. Paul was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in May 2001 and pulmonary hypertension in June 2005.

Survivors are his wife, Elaine; sisters, Ruby Triggs of West Branch, Myrtle Harper of Story City and Marie McClain of Colorado Springs; brother, Harlan (Audrey) Nassen of Suntree, Florida; and seven nieces and a nephew.
